About the Position

We are seeking an experienced Field Communications Engineer (1099 Contract) to join our team in the Chicago area. This role combines technical expertise in RF systems with project management in the telecommunications and infrastructure sector.

Location: Maple Park and Naperville, IL area

Responsibilities

Technical Support for Chicago Hub Sites:

  • Support for amplifiers, servers, antennas, shelter infrastructure, and networking/remote access
  • Troubleshoot complex technical issues and maintain system availability

Construction Project Management:

  • Plan, execute, and oversee telecommunications infrastructure projects
  • Ensure projects meet deadlines and budget constraints
  • Handle permits and administrative processes for all sites within the US
  • Support maintenance window activities in the Chicago hub
  • Assist in purchasing and equipment sourcing
  • Aid in searching, recruiting, and training local T1 staff across the US

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, or related field (required)
  • Proven experience in RF systems support and project management (required)
  • Demonstrated experience in field work, including hands-on technical support and maintenance at customer or infrastructure sites (required)
  • Familiarity with telecommunications infrastructure and networks
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Willingness to work non-standard hours and weekends on-call (not on a regular basis)
  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel within the areaAdditional Information
    • This is a 1099 contract/consultant position, not W2 employment. You will be responsible for invoicing for services rendered. No benefits are provided.
    • This is a physically demanding, field-based job involving hands-on maintenance and support of technical equipment at various locations around the Chicago area.
    • Candidates must have valid work authorization in the U.S., as we are unable to sponsor work visas.
